Donor:Unknown
Group Show
How could carrying your donor card put your life in danger? How commonplace is organ harvesting? How safe are we in the hands of those we trust with our lives?
Donor: Unknown is an exhibition of photographic works, collected material and varying research focusing on these questions, shedding light on some shocking answers.
The photographic pieces all draw inspiration from media stories relating to the unethical side of organ transplantation. Among others the work includes a taxonomical study of surgical equipment and portraiture of harvested victims.
Leaving behind the role of artist and taking on the mantle of researcher the group began to collect further research around the topic. Leading to an archiving project of media information.
Interviews, video footage, newspaper clippings and broadcasts are collected in the archive that sheds further light on the subjects raised by the photographic works. The archive connects the dots and reveals truths about the unethical world of illegal organ donation and transplantation.
